This is Love is on the Way, the eighth single from the upcoming CD NARROW AND STEEP by San Franscisco based singer-songwriter Denny Brown.

Every 2-3 weeks a new single will be released in a RANDOM ORDER, each with its own unique cover, leading up to a full digital release later in the year. In addition, we will be releasing a few short films, both unplugged performances as well as music videos.

"I am interested in timelesss music. Not nostalgia but a sound that defies to be part of a certain period. Music that is hard to pin down when it was first recorded. When a sound, a song structure, a melody feels both of the past and present, and when they melt into one another, it can be forever."

Single #11 Love is on the Way

Hope!

‘Time is the treasure, life is at hand, faith is the measure of the strength of any man’

Kind of a folky/Motown feel. Not exactly correlative but I really loved an old Supremes song ‘When the lovelight starts shining through his eyes’.  (I had a crush on Mary Wilson). They used to play it at the ice rink I skated at when I was in high school.  Wonderful representation of great Motown production with the Bo Diddley beat, hand claps, tremendously addictive.

A great part of this song is the bass part played by Dana Russell.  He channels James Jamerson, the great Motown bassist.

I’m gonna tell you now
Love is on the way

Time is the treasure
Life’s what’s at hand
Faith is the measure
Of the strength of any man

Been such along long time
Now I’m heading on home
Finally, the time has come
Not to be left alone

Chorus:
Turn your love lights on
 Turn them on
Unlock that door
Turn your love lights on
Baby once more
Love is here to stay

Love wastes no time
 Again and again
Searching for that special heart
Oh to welcome you in
